Re-electionist Sen. Loren Legarda
Sen. Loren Legarda on Tuesday discussed, rumors that she had been romantically involved with Sen. Edgardo Angara, lawyer Adel Tamano and even former East Timor President José Manuel Ramos-Horta.
Senator said she is “legally, officially single” after her marriage with former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste was annulled.
The senator denied being romantically involved with Angara, saying the rumor is reiterated. “Una, napakaluma naman at antique na isyu yan. Pangalawa, talagang hindi po totoo. Pangatlo, baguhin niyo naman yung chismis,” she said in an interview.
Legarda denied also any romantic involvement with Atty. Tamano, who was the former spokesman of the United Opposition and was a senatorial candidate in the 2010 elections.
“Grabe naman yan. Spokesman ng [United Opposition] ng 2007? My god, that’s the biggest lie. Pati ba naman yung matandang senador tapos nayon spokesman…” she said.
On the other hand, Legarda was tightlipped when asked about rumors that the former East Timor President asked her out on a date. She admitted that they had been in touch but only laughed when asked if they went out on a date.
Asked if she would consider going out with President Aquino, Legarda cited that she is older than the President by 11 days. Legarda turned 53 last January 28 while Aquino celebrated his 53rd birthday on February 8.
“Family friend natin si Presidente at rinerespeto natin yan,” she said.
Legarda joked with host Karen Davila by pretending not to hear her question when asked if she would consider getting married again.
She also said she will first study the possible benefits of a divorce law before saying if she backs its passage.
“I am annulled sa simbahan at annulled sa husgado so officially romantically single. Ngayon sa diborsiyo gusto ko munang tignan ang pagpalawak ng annulment dahil may annulment. Gusto ko munang makita ang benepisyo ng babae sa civil annulnment at sa diborsiyo,” she said.
