11 new scholars from Saudi, Bahrain who qualified for OWWA scholarship named

Eleven out of the 110 examinees, dependents of overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East have qualified to avail of a scholarship program of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). The OWWA’s Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) exams held last December at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Elite International School. It was conducted by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The embassy said that nine of them are from Saudi Arabia while the two are from Bahrain.

The EDSP is a scholarship program for qualified dependents of OFWs consisting of a maximum P60,000 financial assistance per scholar per school year, leading to a four-to-five year baccalaureate course in any college or university.

New Scholars can enroll in any college or university of their choice and can choose any course they wish to take.
